It's Raining LOVE!
" Where is the key?" Ajabde searched her purse and asked Pratap.
" The what?" He was clueless.
" The key, the car key!!" She was irked.
"Urgh! Don't shout, saarrr dukhta hai! Key? I don't remember."
Ajabde gave Pratap a fed-up look as he searched his pockets. Then he laughed.
" What?" She asked, surprised. He took the key out of his right pocket and waved it.
" I'm so drunk!" He chuckled, looking at her serious face. " And so sorry!" He made a serious face.
She took the key from his hand, snatching it. " And mad!"
" No! " He raised his finger at her, "That's you!"
" Get inside." He sat like an obedient kid while she drove to a nearby stall.
" Why are we stopping here?" Pratap frowned at the Dhaba.
" Because I'm hungry!" She got out. " Hey Bhagwan, it's closed!"
" It's 3am, are you drunk too?" He chuckled from the car as she looked around.
Suddenly, she looked up at the sky and smiled.
" Princy!! Princy!!" He looked annoyed. " Pratap!!" She corrected.
" Kya?"
" Baarish!"
" Kya?" He looked surprised as a downpour began.
" Ajabde!"
" I so love dancing in the rain!" She was going on rounds, in the open area of the closed Dhaba, their car headlights being the only light, and they were the only people.
" Is that so?" He asked as she stared at him." Let's dance then!"
" What?" She was delightedly surprised at this new side of him. He set the stereo and walked out in the rain to her.
Atkan matkan dahi chata, chor pichanwa phurre ja, aree aree karre kaaka, chun chun moti khareeka, bundan bundan barse barse, Dhuwa dhuwa hui jaa re jaa, atkan matkan dahi chata....
She was moving her body to the beats as the rain drained them. Their white clothes and raindrops... Pratap held her hand and pulled her close to him, holding her bare waist with his hands.
Ishq barse bundan bundan, chale hai cham cham pairan, rangi payal ranga aachal, rangi mein poori tere rang! He smiled as she moved her saree's anchal to the lyrics. Then resumed the only dance he could do well, the waltz. Dole mann tananananana dhinak dhin tanananana ke ab to aaja yaara aaja aaja laage nahi mann! The dhaba ground was their dance floor, and they were like kids without a care in the rain. Laughing and dancing without a care.
Saas chalti resham resham, aas barti madham madham, nashe mein ghoom rahi hoon, jhoom rahi hoon, main bijli ke saang, bole mann tanananana dhinak dhin tananananana ke ab toh aaja yaara aaja aaja laage nahi maan!
Pratap stepped back, watching her dance carefree in the rain, the raindrops dripping from her bare arms and waist. Pratap stared with intense eyes as his mouth went dry. His eyes fed on her beauty. He couldn't look away as her thumkas and laughter made him stare at her, from her waist to her face and down. She pulled him to the dance. His hand held her bare waist as he looked at the very same Ajab differently. She smiled at him to realise his gaze was different. It had lust. Love. Mostly lust. His fingers made a tinkling sensation as his hands moved from his waist upwards, bringing her closer to him, their noses almost touched as she heard him breathe heavily in the drenching rain, her hands were on his collar. What the hell, Ajabde, he's drunk! Came a voice from within as she let go of the collar and moved her head away.
" We should leave!" She turned as he held her pallu and dragged her closer.
" You look... hot! She stared at him wide-eyed. Did he just say Hot? Oh My Gosh!
" Kyun bol raha tha woh tumko waisa?" His eyes spoke anger, and his grip around her tightened.
" Kaisa? Kaun?"
" Hot bola usne! That Rohan!"
" Toh?" They stared at each other.
"No one has the right to look at you that way!" He frowned, making her smile.
" Is that so?"
" Yes, and you were enjoying the attention, how dare you?" He copied her tone.
" Kunwar Pratap Singh, you are drunk, let's go home!" She giggled.
" No, I want to dance!" He had no intention of going home.
" We have a flight at 5.30, it's 3.30 already!"
" Ohh Shit! Am drunk!"
" Yes, you are!"
She dragged an unwilling Pratap to the car and drove back to the hotel. They were in the suite, their mothers still asleep. She opened his room's door and made him sit on the bed, turning on the light.
" Here, have some nimbu paani."
" Urghh! I don't like..." He was being a kid.
" Have it." Her voice was stern. She bent down to keep the glass, and he removed her wet hair from her face. Eyes met again, this time her phone rang.
" It's Rohan..." He snatched it and cut the phone before switching it off and pulling her by the waist to him.
" Let it be..." He murmured.
" Woh... Woh.." Quick Ajabde, think... think... think... She grabbed the jug of water and threw it at his face.
" What the..." She ran giggling, and he was a little too late to reach her door as it shut.
At 5.30, they were checking out. Kunwar Pratap Singh, back in his suit, didn't talk much in front of the elders; he seemed okay, a little embarrassed because he had never behaved so non-princely ever. Ajabde, who chose a high-neck full-sleeve blue top with her jeans, managed to make him smile as soon as she stepped out of her room, her eyes narrowed and scrutinised him, before ignoring him for the rest of the journey to Surajgarh. This Delhi trip was surely a memorable one!
