And thus they spend 30 glorious years fighting with each other, all because of a royal Accident. Some people called it a mismatch, but to me, they are the perfect match I will ever see!
The writer put down his pen.
" Are you done yet?" His wife came in with coffee. An eager child, barely three, peeped in. " Dad!" He was impatient. " Tell me a story"
" Hush! You will ruin the surprise." He scolded.
" No, I won't," The boy shrugged, " Ranima TV dekh rahi hai aur Papa toh Bua ke saath Chess khel rahe hai niche." He informed me.
" Karan!" His mother scolded. "Don't disturb Dad."
" Aarti," He called as she stopped and turned back." One minute."
He took his pen and right below the last line, he signed Amar Pratap Singh Sisodia.
" It's completed." He smiled.
" Let me be the first reader." She smiled enthusiastically.
A few days later,
" Karan! Who wants to help Ranima with some gardening?" Ajabdeh smiled. " Me Me Me!" The boy jumped as his mother smiled at the Palace lawn.
" Ranima, you spoil him too much." She said,
" I agree with Bhabs." Arohi nodded. She looked like Ajabdeh used to twenty years back in her bright rose Palazzo and printed tee.
" Princess! You forgot how Dadisa used to pamper you?" She frowned. " Nahi, itna bhi nahi karti thi Dadisa." She protested.
" Kya ho raha hai?"
" Papa, aap batao, Bhabs and I were telling Ranima to pamper Karan too much!"
He stared at the ladies and then shook his head, saying, " Wrong timing, Papa." That made them laugh.
" You are supposed to be on my side!" came a protest as Aarti promptly got up and took Karan's hand.
" Chalo Karan, time for some A B Cs." " But Mom. " He frowned.
Arohi looked at her parents as she got up, then added,
" Ranima Papa, please anniversary ke pehle no jhagra haa?" " Anniversary toh kal hai." Pratap shrugged.
" It's almost 24 hours!" Ajabdeh added.
" Aap ek din bina fight kiye can't stay?" She asked, amused. They looked at each other, and Arohi left, shaking her head like her father.
In the last 25 years...
Surajgarh was now a small town, where the villages had grown as well as the handicraft work, which was now famous even outside Rajasthan. The college, hospital and all other welfare work were going well, and the people were all praised by Rana Pratap Singh and Rani Ajabdeh Punwar Singh for their endless efforts in making Surajgarh better. What made them happier was that Kunwar Amar Singh, as well as Rajkumari Arohi Baisa, also followed their parents' love for their small kingdom, or so they called it. Heer and Shakti had helped their niece and nephew as far as they could after landing here for the surprise. Karan reminded Shakti a lot of Amar as he decided to call him a Minion.
Heer's daughter Adhira was close to Arohi as she was only 3 years younger, leaving Amar really annoyed all the time with their girly stuff ever since they were kids.
Ven and Rosalina had settled in Delhi ever since Aarti chose Amar during her schooling days, with him in London. Their wedding was a grand one, with neon themes, as Pratap finally gave in to Ajabdeh's desires. Arohi was back from the US after a management course. She had the business brains of Pratap and would be joining to help him and Amar with the Hotel Empire, as well as Surajgarh.
Aarchi was married to a diamond merchant in Mumbai; she visited often, never forgetting to irritate Amar whenever she did. They were best friends, much to their parents' happiness. She was Karan's favourite Bua as she brought gifts every time she came.
Mehek and Rohan, as well as their son Rahul, were still in Delhi. Rahul apparently had a crush on Arohi, who was 2 years older than him, if Ajabdeh was to believe Aarti’s version. Arohi, however, was a little business-minded as of now, prompting Ajabdeh to stop Aarti's matchmaking. She didn't really want a runaway bride, especially since Arohi, after all, was her blood. She was sure Arohi was all about grey, black and white and waited for someone to fill her world with neons, much like her father.
Ajabdeh was in a dark blue velvet saree with golden embroidered borders as she stood choosing her earrings. Pratap had the same colour suit and she stared at his reflection in the mirror and started...
" Kitni bar bola hai ke colour kar lo grey hairs." " Grey hair is sexy on a man!" He flaunted.
" Gosh! Princy! You are overdoing it. Main kaisi lag rahi hoon?" She smiled at him. "Tum har baar kyun puchti rehti ho jab you know my answer?"
" Kyunki mujhe har baar sunne ka mann hota hai!" She smiled.
" Eww, Mushy!" He teased her as she hit him." Kuch to sharam karo, daadi bann gayi ho, abhi bhi maar rahi ho!"
" Haan toh?Tum tease karna bandh karo." " Strange Girl?"
" Hmm??"
" Thank You."
" Hein? Kyun?" She asked, confused. " Surajgarh wapas aane ke liye."
" You mean 30 years pehle?" She asked wide-eyed. "Haan." He smiled.
" Tum pagal ho,chalo sab wait kar rahe honge." " Suno." She stopped and turned.
" Happy Anniversary, Love."He held out a princess-cut diamond ring that made her smile.
" This is so costly. "
" Don't start!" She was cut short by him as he slid the ring on her finger." Happy with me?"
" Couldn't be happier." She smiled back.
The grand party was kept only for close friends and family. Hansa was the only elder from Ajabdeh's side, along with Sajja from Pratap's, as well as Heer's Parents. The party was on, with the cake cutting, cake smearing, much to Amar, Karan and Ajabdeh's amusement and Aarti, Arohi and Pratap's dismay. Lastly, Amar was up on stage with the mic.
" So it's our favourite part now! Dance time! Everyone on the floor and aj pehla song Ranima aur Papa will sing."
" Kya?" was a shocked reaction in unison, followed by Ajabdeh's " No No," " Agar apne nahi gaya toh you won't get my surprise gift!" Amar warned. " Dekho!" Pratap smiled. " Tumhari tarah blackmail karta hai."
" Amar!" Ajabdeh frowned as Amar gleefully gave her the mic.
" Kya gaana..." Ajabdeh was thinking aloud as Pratap snatched the mic. He smiled at
his confused wife and then took her hand.
Tum Aa Gaye Zindagi Aa Gayi, Dil Ko Mere Raunaake Mil Gayi, Ajabdeh smiled as he sang, and everyone went "Aww''Rab Kare Waqt Bhi Ruk Jaaye Yehi, Yeh Pal Main Jee Loon Sada, Ab Dur Jaana Nahi, He took her hand to the dance floor, as eyes didn't leave each other’s. Jo Tu Mera Humdard Hai, Suhana Har Dard Hai, Jo Tu Mera Humdard Hai. Teri Muskurate Hai Taakat Meri, Mujhko Inhi Se Umeed Mili. Her eyes twinkled as he smiled a soft " No crying." Chahe Kare Koi Sitam Yeh Jaha, Inme Hi Hai Sada Hifasat Meri.Zindgani Badi Khubsoorat Hui Jannat Ab Aur Kya Hogi Kahi She nodded no. Jo Tu Mera Humdard hai. Pratap let her sing the rest of
it, not that she was better; he just loved listening
to her. Teri Dhadkano Se Hai Zindagi Meri, Kwawishe Teri Ab Duyaye Meri Kitna
Anokha Bandhan Hai Yeh. She smiled back at Amar and Arohi, looking at them with pride. Teri Meri Jaan Jo Ek Hui Lautunga Yaha Tere Paas Main Haan, Vaada Hai
Mera Mar Bhi Jau Kahi. Her voice choked as he continued. Jo Tu Mera
Humdard Hai, Jo Tu Mera Humdard Hai, Suhana Har Dard hai, Jo Tu Mera Humdard hai....
" Okay, guys, I have a special announcement now." Shakti took the stage. “Actually, a
surprise for Dadabhai and Bhabisa from Amar, as well as Arohi, Aarti, and
Karan." He added, seeing the three waves at him, making Amar frown. " Come on up." " I have a habit of writing, it comes from Ranima,'' Papa says. And she was always so encouraging about it, this is my love and appreciation for all the support you two gave me." He took out a book from the brown paper wrap. " My First Book.
Hopefully, not the last."
Ajabdeh was awestruck. She couldn't believe her little baby had actually published his own book. She got up to give Amar a tight hug as her eyes teared up.
" Mother India mat ban jao, please." He wiped away the tears, quite similar to how Pratap always did. Pratap got up to separate Ajabdeh from Amar before she embarrassed him by pulling his hair or his ears.
“What is the book about?" Ajabdeh asked as Amar handed her the hardbound copy. It was Sky Blue in colour and had a picture of a girl and a boy in a pink silhouette. Her eyes stopped at the title. " The Royal Accident." Amar read out to the crowd of friends and family. " It's a story that makes you believe that sometimes true love is the craziest, Funniest and coolest journey ever!"
He smiled at a still, wide-eyed Ajabdeh.
" He wrote a book on me." She turned to Pratap with a helpless tone. " Us." He corrected me.
" That's embarrassing!" She concluded with a frown.
" I told you not to reveal all your secrets to him! He really didn't need to know EVERYTHING!" Pratap just shrugged coolly.
" That's it, my friends, the story, I hope you all like it, enjoy it, read, reread and review it! Happy reading!" He concluded.
Ajabdeh stood going through what literally seemed like the pages of her life as Pratap came and caught her hand.
" I am so proud of him." He spoke up.
" Me too... but..." She looked confused. " But what?"
" Is it all worth telling?" She asked as he smiled. " Is it that special?"
" You are asking me? It's the most special love story I have ever known." Pratap concluded without a thought.
" Me too." She added, tightening her grip around his hand as she held the book and watched Amar and Karan tease Arohi as Aarti tried to stop them, making Heer and Shakti laugh.
" See this," He looked at them.
" What?" She asked.
" You Complete Me." Pratap to Ajabdeh, by her hand, as the giant screen behind them flashed "The Royal Accident".
